Malé is the improbable capital that got squeezed onto one tiny island — motorbikes weaving through alleys barely wider than a boat, a fish market that never sleeps, and reef-blue water lapping right up against concrete seawalls. Most people blow through it on the way to a resort island, which is exactly why locals here still cook like nobody's watching.
